Annotation

MicroStation Text Styles are used to define the Symbology that the duct annotations will have on the map. Once text styles are defined, the annotation setup found in the strand module is used to associate text style to annotation type.

Set Up Duct Annotation

  1. From the Bentley OpenComms menu, select File > OpenComms Settings > Facilities > Strand Setup:

  2. Select the appropriate strand resource file and click Edit.

  3. The Strand Setup dialog box opens.

  4. Select Duct from the Strand Lines drop down list located at the upper right corner of the dialog box and specify the text style, the weight and the offset of the duct distance annotation.
  5. Select the appropriate Text Style and Weight for the Enclosure Names and Duct Names:

  6. Click OK to update the database.

Create a Text Style

  1. From the Element menu in the project .DGNLIB, choose Text Styles.
  2. The Text Styles dialog opens.

  3. From the menu bar of the Text Styles dialog, choose Style > New or from the icon bar of the Text Styles dialog, click New.
  4. A new “Untitled” style appears in the Text Styles list.
Note: The settings for the new style are taken from the active settings. To use another text style as a template, activate it first, then create a new style; or make a copy of it.
  5. Key in the desired name for the new text style and press <Enter>.
  6. The new text style name appears in the Text Styles list.
  7. From the Text Styles dialog, choose Styles > Save or from the icon bar of the Text Styles dialog, click Save.
  8. The new text style is saved.
Note: The new text style is not automatically activated; you must activate it by right clicking on the new text style and choosing Activate. Once text style changes are made to the project .DGNLIB, open the project DGN seed file and update all text styles to the new or updated styles in the project .DGNLIB.
